The first few weeks of school passed fairly quickly. Things were pretty habitual for the most part: wake up, go to school, enjoy English class, head to work, go home, get some rest, repeat. When we rounded the corner onto Cherry Lane the squad car in front of us shot off towards the black Dodge Ram cargo van, which hurriedly took off and careened around the bend, the patrol car hot on its heels, sirens wailing and lights flashing.
